ABOUT

Nurturing Earth is about designing & living a regenerative life in harmony with the earth we live upon. It came about from the urgency I have felt as a mother raising the next generation in a time of changing climate, social and financial stresses.

My first encounter with Permaculture was while WWOOF-ing in Tasmania, building chook tractors and lasagne veggie beds for organic folk in exchange for board in 2008. It started a deep appreciation for the systems thinking at the heart of Permaculture and a journey to learn more about design and sustainability.

In 2019, I completed my Permaculture Design Certificate and set to applying the principles to my Melbourne home and family lifestyle. While designing and building an edible garden and composting systems - complete with chooks - in a rented property was challenging, it also offered the opportunity to creatively design solutions to common limitations met by renters, and to share the results.

Since completing Morag Gamble’s Teach Permaculture program in 2022, I have developed and facilitated workshops for both children and adults on sustainable living and Permaculture topics.  I also write a monthly column for The Westsider newspaper in Melbourne.

My latest venture has been the move to my forever home in Ballarat with my young family in 2024. While I get to know the climate and seasonal patterns in my new backyard, the edible garden is gradually taking form.

Meanwhile, I'm busy on the Ballarat Permaculture Guild Committee, draught-proofing the leaky Federation-era house, home-schooling, and wrapping up my online study of the Diploma in Sustainable Living at UTAS.

I am available to teach, consult and design for clients wishing to bring their home space and day-to-day living into harmony with the wider environment using Permaculture principles.
